Has anyone distilled the Australian essential oil of Crowea ??

The oil of C. saligna contained croweacin (84–94%) as its principal component with smaller amounts of safrole.

Two hybrids between C. exalutu and C. sufignu are known, and are available commercially to gardeners (5).
Penfold and Morrison (6) found that C. sufignu (as Eriostemon crowei F. Muell.) yielded an oil in 0.4% yield. It contained the aromatic ether, croweacin as its major component (90%) and d-a-pinene. Several other unidentified substances were also isolated.

***Croweacin was later shown to be l-allyl-2-methoxy-3,4-methylenedioxybenzene ***

Croweacin, 1-allyl-2-methoxy-3,4-methylenedioxybenzene,

which can be regarded as an isomer of myristicin (l-allyl-5-methoxy-3,4-methylenedioxybenzene),
was first reported from C. sulfgna in 1922 (6). It has since been detected in the leaf oil of Tasmunniu glaucrfoliu (Winteraceae), a species endemic to Australia, where it occurs together with safrole and myristicin (22).

Shulgin quotes: "It thus can allow MMDA-3a to be classified as an Essential Amphetamine, since it can arise, in principle, by amination in the liver in vivo. But in the laboratory, croweacin is certainly not a practical starting material in this synthesis."

Croweacin and Myristicin seem to chemically be similar..

Exalatacin can be found in the essential oil of both Crowea exalata and Crowea angustifolia var. angustifolia.[6]
