It's not like there's too many options.
React 2b4m with methylamine. I prefer methylamine hydrochloride (easier to handle, less smell) but 40 % solution works just as well. Use whatever solvent you can get the easiest and without drawing attention, usually ethyl acetate but possibly DCM, toluene or benzene.
The process is the same: reaction, free base flushing, acidification, extraction, drying and/or recrystallization.
Consider performing acidification in aqueous environment without acetone. You save on acetone and it's good for yield as well. Read the forum, there is plenty of posts about 4-MMC from 2b4m.
