can anyone help with chosing the right amine for the job(s)

I would like some hemp, I mean, some help.
I often see syntheses that say 'use 47ml of n-butylamine'(alternatively use 49g of cyclohexylamine ). ....{this was just an example, these are not real numbers}. And a few times they say to use ammonium acetate.

My question(s) are this: is there any rules about which source of nh3 to use? Can they all be used, in different amounts? Is it just related to the solvent or other reagents being used. Obviously they can't all be used because I see methylamine used a lot, and Walter white never said "oh, we can just use hydroxylamine, Jesse". Lol

Is there a way to change what the amine is comprised of like there is a way to change meth from methamphetamine HCl to methamphetamine sulfate... Just use a differerent alcohol?

I'm not a pro here so take this with a grain of salt.
Id look up the mol weight of said amine and figure out what it is in the synth ie x mol eq then look up the mol weight of what you want to use and do the math to get what ever equivalent of said amine.
Once again don't bank on this that's just what I did recently to substitute copper chloride for carbonate in a nabr4,/copper reduction and got decent results although yield should've been better but could be due to a number of factors

Im assuming the cyclohexylamine/butylamine/ammonium acetate comment is in reference to henry condensations i would however use EDDA or an amino acid but basically anything other than ammonium acetate such fucking low shitty ass yields

and just use sulfuric acid when acidifying instead of hcl to get meth sulfate or if you have meth hcl then basify it and acidify with H2SO4 lol

any amine can also be used as a catalyst for the henry *including methylamine* they arent acting as a source of ammonia just a catalyst in this scenario

Yep ive even had success using subbed ones which is always funny using meth to make 2cb or something
